Kjetil Mulelid Septett mit Mathias Eick und Trygve Seim "AGOJA"
The first septet in our eastPLUGGED® series exceeded the expectations of the organisers and the audience by offering far more than just by the rich sound of their ten (!) instruments. Kjetil Mulelid on Steinway grand piano and Fender Rhodes, Trygve Seim and Sissel Vera Pettersen on saxophones, trumpeter Mathias Eick, Lars Horntveth on bass clarinet and pedal steel guitar, Bárður Reinert Poulsen on double bass and electric bass as well as drummer Andreas Winther played in a truly stupendous manner during their first concert in Germany. Each piece presented its own musical arc, with the basic melody being ‘recaptured’ differently several times with interim phases of intensive improvisation. Although the four wind instruments often dominated the sound, Kjetil’s arrangements were designed in such a way that the piano, bass, drums and pedal steel guitar were able to send their own strong acoustic accents into the space of the Friedenskirche; and all of this was supported by the flawless sound management provided by our technician Daniel.
The audience was only “disappointed” when Kjetil returned on his own to the stage for an encore. However, this “disappointment” quickly gave way to enthusiasm and standing ovations for his brilliant piano solo, followed by a return of the other band members and a final piece performed again in the full line-up.
Tusen takk for denne fantastiske norske konsertkvelden. Thanks a million for this fantastic Norwegian concert night.
